The Current State of Veganism; A Birds Eye Critique

Veganism was meant to be a non-political movement but times have changed and by virtue of the current climate everything is political. These unintended consequences have arisen through the North American culture of contrarianism and new liberal thought.

Veganism was a dietary choice that has positive effects on your body and secondary effects on the environment, many animals, and the economy.

Critics and skeptics of veganism raised strong arguments on the environmental sustainability of world-wide veganism, the gentrification, and deforestation of land for supplements and cosmetics.

But now those skeptics are opposed to veganism, just as the new vegan contrarian movements are opposed to the mainstream. Alas, the new vegan movement has its own click, like Antifa and Proud Boys some may intersect but the majority will not.

Why Is Veganism Now A Political Movement?

Veganism has always gravitated towards liberal thought and it is a progressive movement that focuses on the environment and the wellbeing of animals. It shares many philosophical routes from Hinduism and Buddhism: It is the duty of every person to leave the world behind better than how they found it.

Due to the volatility in North America, vegans have aligned themselves with mainstream liberal thought. This means that vegan ideas, laws, and rights are being championed by the liberal movement.

There is no other choice for vegans but to support the liberal movement otherwise, these changes would not take effect.

This is observed by conservative movements who support livestock, traditional agriculture, dairy, and neo-farm to table movements.
